The Waspinator

You might have seen the Waspinator on This Morning or Monty Don using it last year on Gardener’s World. It’s used to stop wasps setting up home in your garden, pergola, shed, play area etc. – particularly in a spot they’ve used before. It’s chemical free, there are no dead wasps, no mess and no cleaning up. Sound too good to be true? Well, we usually find we have a wasp nest on the walkway between our two buildings. So last year we suspended a Waspinator from the wooden canopy (you’ll see it hanging to the right of the Riverside Building doors) and it worked. It fools the wasps into thinking other wasps have already set up home in that spot and so they go off and find a new home! Wasps do some good work in the garden but this product keeps them away from areas where they might annoy you and moves them elsewhere.
Anyway, the Waspinator is now in stock – it comes in a pack of two. Don’t wait for the wasps to set up home – hang the Waspinator up first.wasp1

How to recycle your real Christmas tree.

Thinking ahead … here’s the advice from Oldham and Tameside Councils regarding recycling your real Christmas tree:

OLDHAM COUNCIL:
To recycle your Christmas tree, take it to one of the ‘drop off’ points which are available from 28 Dec until 22 Jan:
Higher Memorial Park (car park), Joseph Street, Failsworth
Churchill Playing Fields (car park), Wellington Road, Greenfield
Royton Park (car park), off Bleasdale Street, Royton
Werneth Park (car park), off Frederick Street, Werneth

TAMESIDE COUNCIL:
Recycle real Christmas trees by leaving out with the brown bin in the new year for free collection.

Please be aware that unfortunately we are unable to provide this service at the garden centre.
